Elvira Mächler
eDNA expert
Elvira is a molecular ecologist with extensive know-how in aquatic environments gained during her PhD at the Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology (Eawag). Originally, she wanted to become a taxonomist who identifies species by their morphological features. However, during her master's thesis in 2013, she came into contact with environmental DNA and was fascinated by its impact level at local and global scales. In the following years, she immersed herself into molecular methods, which ultimately led her to co-found SimplexDNA. Today, Elvira has an advisory role at SimplexDNA and remains a fountain of knowledge for anything eDNA-related.
